Guidance
I listen to my inner guidance.
Thursday, February 18, 2016

As I sit quietly in prayerful reflection and center myself in my heart space, I discover everything I need to know. Extraneous concerns pass away. My breath moves in and out gently and evenly. Whatever the perceived problem in my life, I know that right now I am in the presence of the spiritual resource that answers every need.
This perfect place of rest contains everything necessary for me to proceed with perfect grace and clarity. If a question comes to mind, I ask it and then release it, trusting that the right answer will come forth. My question may be answered in a dream, a book, a word, a quiet knowing. Spirit has infinite ways of communicating, and I am open to them all.

O send out your light and your truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling.—Psalm 43:3

"PORTRAIT SKETCH of LEO"
Painting #1183 / Oil on Canvas (48"x 48")  Completed July, 2015

"While the men were working on my new kitchen, I was painting "Leo".  This is actually a design piece that I painted especially for my living room.  It hangs on the wall next to the old, white baby grand piano."

The reason I have not shown pictures of my finished kitchen is because it is not finished.  The "great carpenter" went on vacation."

Lively
I am lively in Spirit.

Saturday, July 18, 2015

Unity cofounder Charles Fillmore certainly knew how to lead a lively life. Even in his later years, he stayed active and taught Truth principles. When he was 93 years old, he wrote one of his most popular affirmations: I fairly sizzle with zeal and enthusiasm and spring forth with a mighty faith to do the things that ought to be done by me.
This lasting exuberance for service springs from an inner source—the Christ within me. My body and mind are in a constant state of renewal. I nurture this vitality by praying and meditating. Paradoxically, my quiet time with God unleashes vast storehouses of energy and inspiration. Whatever I am called to do, I do with zest and zing!

Render service with enthusiasm, as to the Lord.—Ephesians 6:7

Love
Love transforms my world.

Tuesday, May 26, 2015

Through the power of my thoughts, I can alter my perception of the world. Where I once may have seen anger, jealousy, or fear, I now can perceive the presence of Love. My outlook changes as I become more aware of God expressing through us all.
I intentionally look for examples of love in my world. As I observe people in their daily interactions, I notice strangers holding doors open for one another; parents hugging their children as they get off school buses; store clerks making friendly conversation with customers.
As I focus on gestures of kindness, my awareness of the goodness in life grows. My life is transformed by Love.

If we love one another, God lives in us, and his love is perfected in us.—1 John4:12

"LEO"
"Leo is a two year old miniature schnauzer and I have had him for four months.  He certainly is a joy and comfort to me.  Again, I am Blessed abundantly!  This toy animal is his favorite toy (of many).  It has paper inside the body that makes a crackle sound as he plays with it and he's found lots of squeaks in it too.  It's so entertaining to watch Leo play.  Sometimes he will sit on one end of the animal and then try to pull it out and away.  Doesn't he know he's sitting on it.  Watching Leo's attempts at getting this toy up and onto my lap is so funny but that's another story.  He's chewed off most of the ears of this toy and yet he's so sneaky when he does it.  He tries to hide that he's chewing the toy from me even though he's sitting right next to my chair.  Since he loves this toy so much, I have mended it a couple of times for him and it can take a lot more of Leo's "Love"."

Adventure
I walk my spiritual path with courage and confidence.

Saturday, May 2, 2015

Experiences like moving or changing jobs may bring both excitement and uneasiness. Transitions become easier when I accept plans may change and open myself to new adventures. I give thanks in advance for the lessons I will learn.
I may feel the same mix of excitement and unease as I embark on a new spiritual journey. In prayer, I release any worries about outcomes and embrace surprises. Although I cannot anticipate every twist and turn, I know my overall success is assured. I become more attuned to my unique strengths as I deepen my connection with God. This knowledge of myself leads me to walk my spiritual path with courage and confidence.

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who lived in a land of deep darkness—on them light has shined.—Isaiah 9:2

Benevolence
I am appreciative, kind, and generous with others.

Saturday, January 24, 2015

Today I live with the intention to express to others my generosity, kindness, and appreciation.
I am grateful for the presence of my loved ones. I cherish the good moments and the difficulties that help us grow. As I appreciate others, I also feel better about myself.
Because I value others and myself, I am kind. In my thoughts and actions, I treat myself with gentleness, and I extend that kindness in my relationships. As I cultivate gentleness, my spirit expands. Out of kindness and appreciation for others, I am generous. I take every opportunity to give of my time, talent, and treasure. As I cultivate benevolence, I grow in the love of God.

You will be enriched in every way for your great generosity, which will produce thanksgiving to God.—2 Corinthians 9:11

Let Go, Let God
I am guided and restored by God’s power and light.

Tuesday, November 25, 2014

Completing errands, shopping, planning meals, and hosting gatherings can cause stress during the holiday season. When I feel I don’t have enough time for everything, or find myself harried, I stop and take a deep breath—then release. I let go of the day’s worries and let God restore my peace.
As I commune with God, I release my anxiety and let Spirit renew my energy. I then have the strength and calm to complete what is mine to do. Spirit is the light that guides me. When I don’t know what to do, I ask within. I let go of my way and let God shine the light of understanding in me.
My life runs smoothly as I yield to the light and power of God. In the midst of holiday busyness, I let go and let God.

To give light to those who sit in darkness ... to guide our feet into the way of peace.—Luke 1:79

Success
I apply my talents and abilities to my work, and I am successful.

Wednesday, November 19, 2014

My work is more than a source of supply; it is also a source of fulfillment. My work gives me the opportunity to use the talents and abilities God has given me. When I use my gifts to serve and bring joy to others, I have a sense of accomplishment—I achieve true success.
No job needs to be boring or humdrum. If I feel my work does not give me the opportunity to grow, I pray for a change. In the meantime, I do the best I can right where I am and thank God for my job every day. I bring happiness to the people I serve.
Today I put my heart into what I do, knowing that true success comes from the inside. I am blessed to be of service in the world!

Serve him with single mind and willing heart; for the Lord searches every mind, and understands every plan and thought.—1 Chronicles 28:9

Shift
I shift to a higher spiritual perspective.

Wednesday, October 22, 2014

A car with a manual transmission cannot move if it is not in gear. If I find myself pressing my foot on the gas pedal and spinning my wheels, shifting the gears will propel me forward.
Likewise, holding on to an attitude of insistence or resistance in my life will keep me stuck. Through prayer, I access the wisdom and clarity to know how to shift gears and change.
To rise from blame, upset, or frustration, I adjust my attitude. I let go and forgive. I use my energy in positive ways—uplifting, encouraging, and looking for the best in myself and others. These shifts help me gain a higher spiritual perspective and move me steadily forward.

Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, says the Lord of hosts.—Zechariah 4:6

Decisions
Every decision offers me a blessing.

Wednesday, October 15, 2014

When making a decision, I relax knowing that every choice offers me a blessing. I do not allow myself to become anxious that one choice will be “wrong” and another “right.” Whether I turn right or left; go or stay; say yes or no, God is with me. I ease my mind by knowing I am never apart from the Divine Creator.
I claim my power to choose and celebrate the wisdom that guides me. Any direction I take is a fresh path to adventure, new experiences, and deeper understanding. I don’t dwell on what might have happened on another path. With God, I cannot make a wrong choice. I embrace my journey! My lessons, gifts, and blessings are right where I am.

The Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy your needs … and you shall be … like a spring of water, whose waters never fail.—Isaiah 58:11

2007 Self Portrait by Artist, NORA KASTEN

Portion of "SELF PORTRAIT" 2007
Painting #917 of 1181 paintings /Oil on Linen  (24"x20") Completed February, 2007

"No time to write this morning.  When I returned to the Ft. Myers Int'l Airport last evening from my Maine vacation, the battery in my car had died.  It's not two years old yet but AAA told me they see this often.  I'm headed out to the Lincoln dealership to have the battery replaced.

It was really hot waiting outside the car in the Long Term Parking lot for the AAA service man.  The wait was 45 minutes and I realized if I put the trunk lid up, I could sit on the back bumper in the shade and feel cooling breezes from time to time.  The first thing the nice man from AAA did after getting out of his truck was to hand me an ice cold bottle of water.  I am always Blessed."
Comfort
The peace of God comforts me.

Tuesday, September 16, 2014

Even during the dark and stormy times of my life, God’s abundant peace is only a thought away. As I close my eyes to fear and confusion, I see the steady light of the Divine at my center. Just as the flame from a single candle dismisses darkness, the light of the Divine dissipates fear.
I am comforted by the divine inner light shining peace, power, and love within me. I affirm: God is my power; God is my strength; I am safe. Any temporary experience has only the power I give it. I choose not to empower adversity.
God in me is the strong comforting presence upon which I rely. I am comforted by the power and light of God within.

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff—they comfort me.—Psalm 23:4

Maine Vacation by Artist, NORA KASTEN

"NORITAKE CREAMER & PLUMS"
Painting #602 0f 1181  Oil on Linen  (8"x 10")  Completed June 28, 2002

Harmony
I am an instrument of harmony.

Monday, September 15, 2014

I enjoy the pleasing blend of sounds when musical notes are sung or played in harmony. The music resonates with my soul, stirs my emotions, and offers a welcoming interlude in my day.
Similarly, harmony within relationships enriches my life. I seek affinity with family, friends, and associates. We may each see life differently, but as we hear each other’s ideas and suggestions, and respectfully discuss any agreements or disagreements, we compose a harmonious song.
Musical notes combine to produce a masterpiece. In the same way, the varying qualities and gifts of individuals combine to make a greater whole. Harmonious relationships are a blessing to me.

Clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.–Colossians 3:14

"KARL KASTEN" by Artist, NORA KASTEN

"KARL, 2007"
Painting #929 of 1181   Oil on Linen  (16"x 20")  Completed May 18, 2007
"This painting was done from a photograph I took of Karl while we were visiting our four Freeport, Illinois, Snowbird friends.  I don't know where the painting is.  I just discovered the photo of it this summer while transferring the painting photos from old CDs to an external hard drive.
Oneness
I am one with God and my supply is abundantly provided.
Jesus taught unity with God: “As you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be in us.” Many enlightened teachers have said that separation is an illusion. We are one with God, the Source of All.
In meditation, I become aware of my oneness with the unlimited Source. I gain a deeper understanding: As I am one with my Source, I have access to unlimited health, abundance, protection, and love. Unity teacher Emilie Cady wrote: “There is really no reason for jealousy or envy, for all persons are one and the same Spirit.”
I let go of thoughts of separation. Good flows to me and through me at all times. I experience God’s good in my life and my needs are abundantly met.

The glory that you have given me I have given them, so that they may be one, as we are one.—John 17:22

Portrait by Artist, NORA KASTEN

"PLEASE BE SEATED"
Painting #936 of 1181  Oil on Linen  (30"x24")  Completed June 15, 2007

Today's message is from Unity's "DAILY WORD"
Constant Good
My good comes to me from God, steadily and constantly.
Inasmuch as I desire my good to come to me in a constant flow, it is up to me to be constant in my faith. If I find myself having ups and downs, I watch my thinking, speaking, and acting. If I want good health, abundance, and happiness, I remember that as I think, so I am; and as I sow, so shall I reap.
I remember the lessons taught by Jesus. He said, “Seek first his kingdom … and all these things shall be yours as well.” He told us to pray believing, to pray without ceasing, and we should be rewarded openly. If I abide by his teachings to the best of my ability, I shall receive the benefits promised.
I form the habit of positive thinking, of silent prayer, of affirmative speech, by constant practice. The more constantly I practice the Truth, the steadier and more constant will be the manifestation of good in my life.

They ought always to pray, and not lose heart.—Luke 18:1

"Lady In The Mirror" by Artist, NORA KASTEN

"LADY IN THE MIRROR"
Painting #334 of 1181  Oil on Linen   (30"x24")  Painted in August, August, 1996  Archived

"This painting could have been titled "Diamonds & Furs".   Karl and I were living at Lamb Lake in Indiana when I painted this on a hot August day.  Air conditioning is always such a blessing for us.

Since transferring painting photos from old CDs this summer to an external hard drive, I have thought of making a video of the paintings for UTube.  Somebody beat me to it though and I don't know how they did it.  I felt led to Google Nora Kasten this morning and look what came up.  I just wish the photos were better quality and I believe I will learn how to do one of my own. Please click on this link."         http://youtu.be/WpmeY_LG7F0

From Unity's "DAILY WORD"      INNER PEACE                     Monday, July 21, 2014
The peace of God enfolds me. I am serene.
When the busyness of daily life leaves me feeling overburdened, it is time to seek the peace of God.
I understand that God not only knows my needs, but brings me peace if I permit it. I turn to Spirit within and repeat this Scripture quietly: God is not the author of confusion but of peace. If I still feel tension or stress, I repeat the prayer until I begin to feel the calming peace of God enfolding me.
The tangle and clutter of the day disappear as my thoughts become more orderly. I am able to return to my day, not rushed or confused, but confident that God’s will for me is peace. Spirit is with me always, helping me regain peace whenever I call on the Divine Presence.

For God is not the author of confusion but of peace.—1 Corinthians 14:33 (NKJV)
